Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to kickstart your career? Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is offering a Modern Apprenticeship SCQF Level 6 in Business Administration. The successful MA will also have the unique opportunity to follow a pathway into a permanent Programme Administrator role within the National Training Programmes Directorate of SDS.

About the Role:
This role is designed to support SDS's ambitions to increase the uptake of Modern Apprenticeships leading to a well-defined career pathway.
The apprentice will be assisting with administrative tasks and coordination while developing practical skills and theoretical knowledge. The role involves working closely across all of the teams within the NTP Directorate to understand business processes, administration systems, and record keeping.
Key responsibilities include coordinating meetings, supporting event planning, preparing documents and reports, and managing communications with partners and stakeholders.
About You:
You will possess National 5 qualifications in English and Mathematics and have a demonstrable interest in business administration through school, personal projects, or other types of learning. The successful candidate will be proficient in IT skills, including Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Outlook, and Excel, and have good communication skills adaptable to a business environment. You will act with honesty and integrity, be good with people, adapt well to change, and be a good team player.
Most importantly, you are willing to learn and are committed to completing the apprenticeship programme.
Where you’ll be based:
This vacancy base is flexible, however weekly travel to our Glasgow offices will be required. SDS are working to a hybrid working model, therefore the successful applicant is expected to work from both home and an SDS workplace on a regular basis.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for this role, you must not currently have an apprenticeship in business administration or equivalent qualification. In line with the Scottish Government’s initiative on youth employment, you must be aged 24 years or younger on 06 October 2025. SDS will be flexible on age criteria for applicants who are care experienced or disabled in which case you must be 29 or younger on 06 October 2025.
Due to Modern Apprenticeship funding rules, you must have the continuous right to work in the UK for the duration of the Modern Apprenticeship which is 24 months.

Interviews are expected to be held week commencing 22nd September 2025. We are piloting a new approach to recruitment for this role, if your application is successful and you are invited to interview, you will be issued with the interview questions in advance to help you prepare and do your best at interview.
