Are you a young person looking for an exciting opportunity to kickstart your career? Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is offering a 2-year fixed-term Modern Apprenticeship SCQF Level 6 in Cyber Security as part of our Young Talent Programme.
About the Role:
This role is designed to support SDS's ambitions to increase the uptake of Modern Apprenticeships, especially among young people from underrepresented groups such as ethnic minorities and individuals with disabilities.
With support you will work alongside team members to contribute to the protection of organisational systems and data whilst working towards the learning objectives of the SCQF Level 6 qualification.
Cyber Security is about protecting our computers, phones, and online information. It involves:
- Protecting data (like passwords, bank details, or personal info)
- Stopping hackers from getting into systems
- Making sure websites and apps are safe to use
- Helping people and companies stay secure online
SDS embraces agile working, therefore, location is flexible. However, there will be a requirement for regular travel to Glasgow where the team is based for training, mentoring and team collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
You will be supporting the triage and resolution of cyber incidents via ServiceNow, assisting in phishing simulations, contributing to end-user awareness activities, and helping maintain records for vulnerability and risk management
You will also support project-related assurance work and learn how cyber threats are detected, documented and addressed in a live enterprise environment.
About You:
We are looking for someone who is passionate about cyber security and enjoys working with others. You should have good interpersonal skills, a creative approach to problem-solving, and be confident in sharing your ideas. You should also be organised and have a good level of IT skills, ideally including working with Microsoft programmes and using the web.
Most importantly, you must be willing to learn, develop your skills, and have the drive and determination to complete your Modern Apprenticeship.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for this role, you must be aged 24 or younger on 8 September 2025, in line with the Scottish Government’s initiative on youth employment. However, SDS will be flexible on age criteria for applicants who identify as care experienced or disabled in which case candidates must be 29 or younger on 8 September 2025.

Interviews are expected to be held week commencing 30th June 2025. We are piloting a new approach to recruitment for this role, if your application is successful and you are invited to interview, you will be issued with the interview questions in advance to help you prepare and do your best at interview.
