Are you a young person looking for an exciting opportunity to kickstart your career? Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is offering two, 2-year fixed-term Modern Apprenticeships SCQF Level 6 in Data Analytics as part of our Young Talent Programme.
About the Role:
This role is designed to support SDS's ambitions to increase the uptake of Modern Apprenticeships, especially among young people from underrepresented groups such as ethnic minorities and individuals with disabilities.
You will gain knowledge and develop practical skills in data analysis, contributing to the organisation's data-driven decision-making processes.
SDS embraces agile working, therefore, location is flexible. However, there will be a requirement for regular travel to Glasgow where the team is based for training, mentoring and team collaboration.
Data analytics is about collecting information, looking at it in smart ways, and using it to make better decisions.
Key Responsibilities: The role can be worked in a hybrid way but the expectation is that the successful candidate will be expected to travel to our Glasgow office on certain days for training, mentoring and team collaboration.
- With support, you will work alongside team members to understand our data, data governance, systems and storage. This will enable you to learn how data is used for evidence-based decision making, reporting and storytelling across SDS
- You will also get hands-on experience with project work, incorporating data engineering, corporate reporting and evidence and impact functions of SDS
About You:
We are looking for two motivated candidates who are passionate about data and enjoy working with others. You should have good interpersonal skills, a creative approach to problem-solving, and be confident in sharing your ideas. You should also be organised and have a good level of IT skills, ideally including working with Microsoft programmes and using the web.
Most importantly, you must be willing to learn, develop your skills, and have the drive and determination to complete your Modern Apprenticeship.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for this role, you must be aged 24 or younger on 8 September 2025, in line with the Scottish Government’s initiative on youth employment. However, SDS will be flexible on age criteria for applicants who identify as care experienced or disabled in which case candidates must be 29 or younger on 8 September 2025.

Interviews are expected to be held week commencing 7th July 2025. We are piloting a new approach to recruitment for this role, if your application is successful and you are invited to interview, you will be issued with the interview questions in advance to help you prepare and do your best at interview.
